This blog is written by an aficionado of space adventure. When commercial space travel really started with the launch of SpaceShipOne, I was happy to help start “Rockets Away!” a newsletter and podcast which previewed the subsequent promoting of commercial spaceflight by the XPrize Foundation.
Whereas this venture did not last forever, I definitely envisioned a time when commercial spaceflight would come into reality in the private marketplace- and now it has- with one of its biggest achievements is the early success of the controversial SPCE (Virgin Galactic Stock)
Ever since I can remember, I loved the idea of space travel. My earliest memories were of the Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon movie series which had been converted to early television. Here’s an early clip from 1936, showing their spaceships but also showing the evil tyrant that Flash must combat to save the Earth. I think he may be running for office soon- so we better watch what we say about him.
Now my ticket to watch Flash Gordon on TV was not quite as expensive as one that might take a tour with Virgin Galactic, a dream of space travel that Richard Branson brought to life. Still, the reality is that for space travel not to totally descend into militarism- is that private industry is allowed to participate and perhaps take the lead. And one primary way of doing this is through buying stock. I am therefore “Bullish on Space” for tourism, asteroid mining, terraforming and peaceful colonization, faster-than-light travel, etc. However, looking at our financial system and the propping up of the stock market by Central Banks- big changes will need to be made to keep up this or any other worthwhile endeavor.
But as this and other stock offerings appeared, it is going to be risk-on and, since Virgin Galactic, has been wildly popular in the news and in its pricing activity from time to time, people still have to be careful. Not that, in this case, personal financial benefits may not be the only reason to invest in its stock.
Here’s another view of the stock, focusing partially on the Virgin Galactic December 11th test flight.
I found Wolf of Dubai by accident.; And, truthfully, he appears to have the youthful enthusiasm for spaceflight that I have always retained. But besides being an enthusiast, he is also an investor, cheerfully bringing his analysis to the public. I like to watch him. Is he also the Wolf of Commercial Spacecraft Investment? He is certainly a candidate.
The future of Mankind may depend on space travel- but it also depends on retaining our rights as an individual- human and economic rights. Join us in this unique crowdfunding project.
